Family

I flew up to Brisbane with my two grandaughters, Demelza and Ce’Nedra, in prepartaion for my son Jurgon’s wedding. Because they were working, the girls mother and sister Ishta were to fly up on the Friday.

Stacy ( the bride to be) hadn’t been well all week and wasn’t up to a night on the town, plus she had 33 of her relatives arriving to spend the night, so Varinia, Ishta, Ayla and I went to the local pub. It was karoake night so we endured the heart rendering screeching of the drunken few who braved the microphone.

My husband (Val short for Valentine) and grandson, Sebastian, had gone to the Scarborough Hotel with Jurgon and friends, to celebrate Jurgon’s final night as a bachelor.

When Val finally arrived home he was pretty much under the weather and bounced around the bedroom trying to get ready for bed. I found it hysterically funny when he fell against the dresser, bounced of the side of the waterbed and fell on the floor. I know, I should have been showing lots of sympathy but it was just too funny. As he dragged himself off the floor into the bed I simply commented ” That’s gonna hurt in the morning.”

Next thing he’s up out of bed and off to the kitchen to talk in hushed tones of 90 decibles, to the other drunken members of the family. What is it about people who have been drinking, all you hear is “Shhhhhhhhhhhh, don’t wake them up.’Everybody be quiet.” Which of course is shouted at the tops of their voices.

So of course most of those who had been sleeping are now wide awake. So in the interests of confining the noise to our house only, I get out of bed, go to the kitchen and order everyone to bed. “Awwwww ish the fun police’ You always spoil our fun.” slurs my lovely daughter.

“Tough, everybody go to bed right now,”I order before returning to bed, only to have to repeat the performance as they move from the kitchen to the garden. After another episode of being nominated biggest killjoy of the year, they finally all stumble off to bed.

I retire to bed thinking about how they will all be suffering with sore heads in the morning. Still it doesn’t happen often, hubby rarely drinks and this is a special occassion.

Demelza decided at the last minute that she wasn’t going to wear a dress and was in the process of changing into long pants, hence the sandshoes.

Our son, Jurgon is getting married tomorrow so he and his father and his mates have all gone to the Scarborough pub for his bucks night.

Varinia, Ishta, Ayla and myself wanted to take Stacey out for dinner and drinks but she was awaiting the onslaught of all her relos (about 30 of them)and decided she would be better off staying home.

We are all looking forward to Jurgon and Stacey’s hitchin’ tomorrow. She is the loveliest girl and they are very much in love.

Hopefully the weather will hold up and remain fine.
