A Baby Joey Comes to Live

April 13, 2007 //  Leave a Comment

Seb went out shooting with a chap who culls kangaroos for a living. One of the kangaroos had a baby joey in it’s pouch and Seb brought it home. We have been feeding it with watered down milk until we can get some of the proper powdered milk to feed it tomorrow.

It took the milk quite well from a syringe and settled down to sleep.

We will contact WIRES tomorrow to see what the best thing is to do with the little fellow.

Seb was really funny, as he was supposed to go out but firmly stated that he couldn’t go as he was now a dad with responsibilities. Well we’ll see how long that lasts. But he seems quite taken with his new charge. I have to say he has been getting good mileage out of this little exercise, with the ladies.

Easter all Over for Another Year

April 8, 2007 //  Leave a Comment

Had a lovely day today, Cedie and Demelza arrived bright and early for an exchange of easter eggs. They brought me an egg to decorate and some tubes of egg decorating paint that were 78% sugar. Cedie proceeded to suck from one of the tubes and it didn’t take too long for the sugar hit to set in.

It is really lovely having the girls living so close, they come to visit often and are both very loving and lots of fun. We sit and have chats about all sorts of things from school to just anything in general. Cedie often brings me flowers and bits of interesting grasses to look at and discuss.

We have been playing the PS3 and with both Paula and the girls help I have finally finished ‘Resistance The Fall of Man ‘ – a totally fantastic game. Paula finished the game a few days ago. She is really good at working out what you need to do and where you need to go to get through the levels. I find some levels a bit frustrating as it takes me a while to figure them out. But it’s all fun.

Sebastian has an xbox live and he wants to compare the performance of the PS3 against the xbox, so I guess that means he will be coming to visit Canberra in the not too distant future with his xbox.

Ayla phoned today to wish me a happy easter. I haven’t heard from her in a while so it was just lovely to hear about what she has been up to. She leads such a busy life, holding down 2 jobs and travelling 2 hours across Brisbane to get to them.

I had thought that Ishta and Evan may have called in to collect their easter eggs but they obviously didn’t have the time.

Just One of Those Weeks

March 20, 2007 //  Leave a Comment

Just had one of those weeks where there is so much going on that I haven’t made time to blog.

My grandson, Sebastian, was out at the property in Tara with my husband and he came off the motorbike. Well the front wheel sunk in the soft mud and the bike toppled over and as he attempted to jump away the mirror shaft gouged his leg and took a fist sized chunk out of it.

This of course resulted in a dash into Tara hospital, where they were unable to do much but put in a drip and clean up the wound. Val (husband) then had to take Seb to the hospital in Toowoomba for treatment. For the uninitiated, Toowoomba is a 2 hour drive from Tara.

So Val dropped Seb off in hospital at Toowoomba and carried on home to Brisbane. Val alternates his time between living in the country and living in Woody Point on the beach. I spend my time commuting between Canberra, Brisbane and Tara. So life never gets boring.

Seb ended up in hospital for a couple of days, the doctors opened the gash even further so they could stitch the wound up. He was released and has to take it easy for the next two weeks. Although he has been complaining of the inactivity to his mother, I am sure he will be quite enjoying having endless hours to play with the x-box live that his girlfriend brought him for xmas last year.

There is never a dull moment in the household.
