The price of going to the movies is becoming horrendous, especially for families. Not only is there the price of the tickets (becoming outrageous) but then there is the candy bar, equally expensive.

We usually go on a Tuesday night, which is cheap ticket night. After all why pay $15 if you can get away with $9, and to save more money, we buy our bottles of water and frozen cokes at the food hall rather than the theatre. It’s not that we are cheapskates, just can’t see the point in throwing money away.

You can also save money by buying books of 10 tickets.

Don’t understand why the cinemas don’t figure out that cheaper tickets mean more bums on seats.

So if you have a friend who is an avid movie goer, why not purchase some movie tickets for them. They will certainly appreciate it.
Hoyts will be having some super specials in February with tickets for $8, so it pays to join the Hoyts Movie Club, and its free.

I am sitting in the family room with the fresh air coming in through the screen door. The sun is shining and there are some birds playing in the tree just outside the door.

Everything is right with the world, and then the sound of the bulldozers and trackers comes crashing through the peace and quiet.

Across the road from where I live, a new development is going in. The bulldozers have cleared away all the gum trees and native growth and where there were once Kangaroos and Wombats there is now a barren space. Soon it will be roaded and piped and little boxes will appear. And there will no longer be peace in the valley.

Such a shame really. Oh yes and I am well aware that people must be housed, before you remind me.

There is a sign that says “Nature at your doorstep”.

Unfortunately there is no longer any signs of nature other than the soil. All the greenery and the animals have gone.

I recently read a great blog in which one of the posts was about entertaining yourself at boring meetings and one of the steps was imagining your boss, lecturer, whatever, dancing naked doing the Makarena with poms poms. The blog does warn that this could be traumatic.

So I thought I would share one of my lesser traumatic, boring meeting busters with you.
Its called ‘Wank Words Bingo’.

As we know – all corporations have a set of words and jargon that the corporate bosses use continually when imparting uplifting or otherwise messages.

So what you do is jot down any annoying corporate speak on a piece of paper. It can be single words or whole sentences, like – We need to touch base. The rules are very fluid.

Then you mark them off as each one is said during the meeting, Try to contain yourself and not call out Bingo during the meeting, it’s not considered to be appropriate for some reason.

Try to be innovative in your choices otherwise the game becomes as boring as the meeting.

Although most government departments and corporations tend to change their coporate speak in line with the latest trends so you should be able to play this for some time.

Happy to hear of any other games that meeting participants play. I need all the help I can get as I am one of those poor sods who is continually sent to meetings so my manager can get out of them.
